In celebration of the sixtieth birthday of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, TAG has teamed up with The Georgian Group and The Prince's Drawing School to hold a prize for the best architectural drawings of a georgian building. Welcome to the Traditional Architecture Group    


The Traditional Architecture Group is a society linked with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). It is established to celebrate the highest achievements of the past as a living source for modern inspiration.

The group seeks to work within architectural, planning and educational disciplines to promote the value of a traditional approach in architecture and design. The group will provide mutual support, a meeting point and a venue for the exchange of ideas for those individuals interested in or practising contemporary traditional architecture.

Directory of members
The Traditional Architecture Group Committee have prepared a Directory of Members. The completed Directory is available both as a hard copy and as an addition to this website. This provides an excellent opportunity for all members to demonstrate and promote their work within and beyond TAG.

NEW PALLADIANS EXHIBITION
To mark the 500th Birthday of andrea Palladio, The traditional Architecture Group at the RIBA and the Princes Foundation for the Built Environment have organized an exhibition of works by the world's leading practitioners of contemporary Classicism and traditional Architecture from the UK, Europe, USA and Australia. The exhibition celebrates the continuity of the classical and vernacular principles of Palladio's timeless, robust and sustainable culture of building and design into the 21st century.

The Exhibition will run from the 3rd until the 20th September 2008 at, Prince's Foundation Gallery 19-22 Charlotte Road LONDON EC2A 3SG The Exhibition is free & the Gallery is open from Monday to Friday 9am to 8pm. PALLADIO & CIVIC VIRTUE LECTURE
Victor Depui, Arthur Ross Director of Education at the Institute of Classical Architecture & Classical America in New York, will examine Palladio's role as a civic architect, and examine how contemporary cities and towns may be served better by Palladian visions and theories.

The lecture will be given at The Prince's Foundation for the Built Environment, 19-22 Charlotte Road, London EC2A 3SG on 4th September 2008 . It will start at 18h30 and there will be an entrance charge of £10 (£5 for TAG members)

...Victor Depui
Victor Depui is the Arthur Ross Director of Education at the Institute of Classical Architecture & Classical america in New York. Over the past fifteen years, Mr Depui has been committed to the advancement of contemporary classicism through both education and practice. He received a Bachelor of Science in architecture from the University of Virginia, a Master of Architecture from Yale University, and a Ph.D in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. His teaching experience includes Georgia Tech (20070, the University of Notre Dame (1998-2006), the Prince of Wales Institute of Architecture in London (1995-98) and the University of Miami, Coral Gables (1998). In addition to his academic career, Mr Depui is an active practitioner and design consulant most recently in partnership with Pier Carlo Bontempi of Parma, Italy. His B & D Studio collaboration is one dedicated to modern classicism and in particular to traditional Italian architectural expression applied throughout North america today. He has worked previously in the offices of distinguished practitioners Allan Greenberg and Demitri Porphyrios and has published widely on a variety of design topics including New Urbanism and the humanities underpinning the classical tradition. Victor depui is also an avid watercolourist whose work representing global architectural expression, past and present, has been exhibited in the USA and abroad. His commitment to drawing and rendering are manifest through practice and teaching alike.
